The Council of the European Union has decided to ban products which are made with forced labour on the EU market. The proposal forbids the placement or provision of goods produced using forced labour on the Union market or their exportation from the Union to third nations. The information from civil society submissions, a database on products or areas where forced labour is a risk, and information on whether the involved companies are carrying out their due diligence obligations regarding forced labour should all be taken into consideration by the competent authorities when evaluating the risks associated with forced labour.
