Philippa Southwell our managing director and modern slavery expert lectured this week on the criminalisation of modern slavery and human trafficking victims at the second edition of the 24-hour Conference on Global Organized Crime. Philippa discussed the developing understanding and awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking in the criminal justice context in the UK, but also emphasised the further problems with implementing and enforcing existing legislation.
The 24-hour Conference on Global Organized Crime took place online over the 1st and 2nd December 2021. The Conference was organised by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.
Philippa was also joined by Phil Brewer, a specialist advisor on modern slavery at the Human Trafficking Foundation.
