Managing Director, Philippa Southwell, provides legal commentary on LBC radio on the Ukrainian-Russian war and the links between modern slavery and displaced persons in conflict.
Conflict exacerbates vulnerability to traffickers who often seek to exploit the instability caused by large population movements. Many women flee Ukraine alone with their children which makes them particularly vulnerable to exploitation by traffickers and criminal gangs. Displaced children are especially at risk of being separated from their families and exploited. Those who have survived modern slavery pre-conflict are also vulnerable to being re-trafficked at times of displacement. It is likely that there will be many Ukrainians who have been trafficked to the UK seeking legal representation in the next six months.
Southwell and Partners provides expert and specialist legal advice on all criminal offences linked to human trafficking and modern slavery, as well as related international, public law and human rights issues.
